Eminem to headline Big Day Out 2010?
Ok, so I was thinking about writing some long winded bullshit here about how festivals still don’t support Oz Hip Hop or international Hip Hop in general, but then i thought ‘it’s fucking 44c’ in this room and I want to keep this short. But i will rant for a second to say, I hate this fucking heat, it’s not good heat. Like ‘this cunt brings so much heat to the stage, i am on fire’ it is more like ‘kill me, kill me now!!!’ ( not very insightful but fuck’it, it’s hot)
In any case rumour from a very good source is that talks are already underway for Big Day Out 2010 with Eminem to headline. there is an extremely good chance of this happening. This will benefit Oz hip Hop heads and Artists alike. Let’s just hope that the ‘brains’ behind it all at least have the sense to give some love to local Oz Hip Hop acts instead of some rock ban that we hate like the last time he toured here.
On the plus side their apparently was some Hip Hop with Resin Dogs and Nf’a taking stage at BDO 2009. I didn’t actually see them as i have never been to a BDO as i can’t afford the ridiculous price tag they set. Sideshows FTW.

Rammstein are going back on the road at the end of the year and it seems very possible that they could be starting their next leg of 2010 with the Big Day Out as Richard wants to do another BDO.
Rammstein only do festivals as headliners now. they will headline the BDO with a vengeance
Personally i would love to see them come independantly but any Rammstein is good Rammstein

After how epically the neill young headline failed this year, I doubt that the bdo organisers will risk another old rocker for fear of a backlash.
Not that I don’t like the Beatles and Paul McCartney, it just wouldn’t work.
I would like to see eminem headline, but i doubt it’ll happen. btw, if you think eminem would do badly, Jay Z would do terribly at bdo. He’s got virtuallly no profile in this country.
I’d say that there’ll be a huge bidding war between soundwave and bdo 2 get faith no more to headline.

Actually Ronnie, Michael Gudinski toured him with D12 a few years back. Michael Gudinski pushing his own agenda (nothing wrong with that imo) had one of his local rock bands (name escapes me) open for him. It was quite hilarious as I remember all the Rap fans throwing bottle and flipping the bird at them. It was an awesome 2 1/2 hour show with Eminem playing most tracks from slim Shady, Marshall Mathers LP and the D12 album. farkkkk I was stoned

Joe, Neil Young mught have put on a good show, but his audience compared to RATM in 2008 was tiny. When I went to the gold coast bdo this year only about ten thousand people saw Neil Young compared to about 40 000 at Prodigy. I didn’t really see neill, i saw Fantomas with about 200 other ppl (Mike Patton desrves more respect than that) and then Dropkick Murphy’s with about 5000 ppl there while neill young was playing.
So yes, Neill young might have put on an excellent show, but he wasn’t a good headliner in terms of audience share.
btw, seeing how well relapse seems to be doin over here, I revise my statement. Eminem would defo be a good headliner (seeing his last “tour” was only in Sydney). I’ll defo go if he goes.
BDO Headliner should be Eminem.
Soundwave (as the other major, if unreacognised, Australian festival) should have Faith No More and KoRn as headliners.

Man, people have a fucking shit taste in metal here. Mettalica, SOAD, Rammestien, can people possibly have a taste in metal that is anymore shit, bland, and generic? the only decent metalish/metal influenced band the BDO fans seem to like are Faith No More (according to one of my friends who knows the soundwave organisers faith no more seem to be booked for soundwave, a much better metal festival than BDO).
BDO never does good metal bands. They do gay shit like BFMV and Trivium. Meanwhile, Soundwave has hosted some awesome metal like DEP, In Flames, Lamb of God, and Divine Heresy. Metalicca, Rammstien, and SOAD are all shit examples of metal. Eminem is atleast an excellent example of the rap/hip hop genre. He would be a much better headliner than all the bland, montonous shit you “metalheads” want to headline the festival.
If ur gonna bring on that “name some better metal bands” shit, don’t even fucking try you posers. I can name countless metal bands better than the pop metal you guys are promoting. Don’t bother.
And fuck, Galstonbury, thats a shit indie rock/acoustic festival. Of course rap didn’t do well thre. Eminem was a very sucsessful headliner at the leeds and reading festival, a general music festival in the same country (the UK). BDO is a general music festival, so I expect Eminem would do well there too. He’s at least better than the pop metal loved by you fake metal heads.

There is alot of bagging going on here hey…Thats the problem with the BDO…Too many genres wanting the top spot.
Even though I am not into it, I saw Jay Z at Roskilde last year and he actually ripped…But BDO always puts a lesser known rap in a sode tent like Lupe Fiasco or Xibit. Thats where it’ll stay. Hilltops o the main stage for good aussie ripping though!!
Radiohead killed it as well at Roskilde and i recon alot of people would be happy for them to come back.
Mars Volta always do a great show at the BDO but dont put them on the main stage, i’de rather appreciate them with a smaller crowd in a side tent.
